Middleport Hikes Gas Rates With New Ordinance

Middleport village council adopted an ordinance to raise natural gas rates effective August 1. The plan keeps current Pomeroy area rates, adds a $2.50 minimum and stepped charges, and was discussed amid unintended earlier implementation concerns. Charles Murray of Ohio Fuel Gas Co. and council members cited long term savings. Mayor McFlinney appointed a recreation board member, and a temporary street foreman was named. A $45 pump repair bill for the fire truck was reviewed along with cemetery fund investment and sewage device data.
