Gov. Myers Y. Cooper joined the United Spanish War Veterans encampment parade in Athens Ohio. He spoke at Hotel Berry during a veterans banquet after viewing the march along Count Street and the Ohio University campus.
Mrs. Orville D. Dailey of Albany received national appointment to the preservation committee of historic spots after six years compiling the Official Roster of the Soldiers of the American Revolution Buried in Ohio. The 450 page book, funded by the Ohio legislature, includes Fort Gower and Marietta markers and a portrait of Marie Storts Allen, highlighting a quarter century of research and nationwide admiration.
County officers and two state agents raided two Athens County homes Monday, seizing a major still setup with 40 gallon capacity, nine mash barrels, and multiple kegs of whisky and elderberry wine. Charles Maxwell pleaded guilty to liquor charges and was fined 200 and costs with jail in default. Authorities described the seizure as among the county’s largest outfits, noting extensive beer and homebrew paraphernalia found at the Heavener residence.

Ray Claybourne 28, a resident of Glouster, died at Holzer Hospital Gallia after being shot by New York Central detective War ren Mahaffey four weeks earlier near Hobson. Mahaffey of Middleport says he shot to deter an escape, claiming the shot was fired in the air.
Madrid reports Spanish government scrambling to locate Commander fiuman Franco and three companions after their Dornier No. 16 seaplane vanished mid Atlantic during an attempted flight to the United States via the Azores. No word or clues by the fourth anxious day.
Washington reports the resignation of Henry P. Fletcher as American ambassador to Italy has been accepted. The United Press learned of the development on June 25.
