Edward T. Carney 38, assistant chief of the Ohio Securities Division, was acquitted of accepting bribes totaling 6050 dollars related to the certification of stock for Consolidated Motors Corp. of Lima.
Officials from state and federal agencies outlined federal old age benefits unemployment compensation and public assistance at an Athens institute attended by employers public officials and citizens. E A Hester and W T Roberts spoke on benefits and compensation with updates on enrollments tax collections and projected funding for 1939.
Two unions sponsor full page ads in New York and Pennsylvania newspapers appealing for funds to reopen Bethlehem Steel Cambria plant in Johnstown. The Cambria unit, closed since Sunday under Gov. Earle martial law to prevent bloodshed, employs about 15 000 workers when active and is the first Bethlehem unit struck by the Steel Workers Organizing Committee over contract opposition.

She leaves six children Velma Russell Zanesville Charles Buckeye Lake Elizabeth Mills Gertrude Davis Harry and Barnett New Straitsville two sisters in Columbus and two brothers Alfred Matthews New Straitsville and Charles Matthews Pittsburgh.
The Montrealer, running from New York to Montreal, struck and killed six section hands sitting on the track three miles north of St Albans Vermont. The crash follows a grade crossing accident near Milton less than six weeks earlier that killed five.

Logan 14 year old Arthur Mowery drowned in seven feet of water in the back water of the Hocking River near Falls Mill. Dr H M Cherring ton and nurse Lucille Miller could not revive him. He is survived by his parents Mrs Colley and several siblings.

The outburst was labeled outlaw by International Typographical Union president Charles P. Howard, who revoked the union charter for contract breach. Contract renewal is due January 7, 1938.
Thomas Godfrey age 48 the last survivor of the Keystone mine explosion died Wednesday night in Holzer Hospital. His death brings to five the deaths from the blast four other miners perished earlier. Godfrey leaves a wife and four children. The family lived near Cheshire before moving to Vin ton last Christmas.
