Agreement to fund new recycling facility approved
The Athens-Hocking Solid Waste District board approved funding to help create a materials recovery facility at Theisen Industrial Park near The Plains. Athens-Hocking Recycling Centers Inc. will operate the plant which will sort recyclables, enabling residents to skip home sorting and boost recycling participation. Funding comes from a $3 per ton generation fee charged to garbage haulers, as previously agreed last February.

Wayne National Forest hosts first art exhibit with Athens group
The Wayne National Forest Headquarters opened its first art exhibit on Saturday in a collaboration with the Athens Area Citizens for the Arts.
