Athens County Plans Sale of Children's Home for New Construction
County commissioners and a citizen committee moved to sell the Athens County Children's Home to fund a new facility. Approval by the common pleas court is needed before any sale, with bids sought for sections including wooded land, fields, and surrounding property. Ohio University is rumored to be interested in land with apartments, while remodeling options were deemed more costly and less effective than a new cottage.
