Driver Merle Key 46 of Pataskala suffered cuts and bruises.

New York American Airlines pilots announce a strike threat over pay for flying the DC 6 B and larger faster aircraft. About 1,000 United Airlines pilots have been on strike since Tuesday over similar demands. Both groups belong to the AFL Airline Pilots Association.
Ohio state employees will receive monthly pay increases ranging from 5 to 200 dollars, effective July 1. Attorney General C William O'Neill approved the raises yesterday in an opinion to the State Service Commission.
Dorotha L. Mellon 24 and Mark Essey White 39 drowned after an afternoon on the Ohio River seven miles south of Gallipolis offshore from Route 7. Robert J. Rocchi and his wife Joy failed to rescue them after a rapid turn threw Mellon and White from the prow. Rocchi and bystanders searched through the night but found no trace. She walked out saying it was time to come out and was taken to Sevierville hospital in surprisingly good condition with swollen feet and insect bites. Ranger Robert White described her account as a little confused and noted she had been camping with her father and wandered toward Hannah Mountain before continuing alone.
Senate inquiry reveals Gen Ridgway supported allowing Chiang Kai-shek Nationalist forces in Formosa to operate against the Chinese mainland. Ridgway wrote to Gen Collins that such action would relieve pressure in Korea if moderately successful, aligning with MacArthur’s stance. James Newman, 58, with a long police history, faced a life sentence for a 1930 bank holdup. Public opposition helped prompt the commission to revoke the parole in 1950.
North American Aviation announced a navy contract to produce an undisclosed number of FJ-2 Fury jet fighters. The planes will be built at its Columbus plant, expanded recently with floor space from the Lustron housing project.

FBI agents announced the capture of 44 year old Joseph Cato Lombardo in Cleveland for the murder of Phyllis McCullough in San Francisco. Cato, also known as Lombardo, had fled after the March 22 killing, previously selling a sandwich shop and taking $17,000 from a bank.
