Eight Charges Heard in Glouster Court
Five persons faced eight charges in Glouster Court led by Mayor Paul Meade. David Joe Richards was fined for three counts including driving while intoxicated and license suspension, plus fleeing an officer and three jail days. Other fines included Donald Miliron for intoxication and Jeffrey Tolliver for reckless operation and excessive speed with a six month good behavior condition. Forfeitures included Terry Olbers, Fred Carey, and David Morgan Carmichael for reckless speed and speeding.

Austin Strikers Vote On Tentative Pact
Teamsters Local 412 members vote today and Friday on a tentative contract to end a seven week strike at Austin Powder Co. About 350 workers in the Red Diamond Division walked off May 1 as contracts expired. The plant in Vinton County employs 500 workers along Route 667 east of McArthur.
