Gore Youth Killed in Route 595 Crash near Gore

An 18 year old Gore youth, George Lee Tucker, died early Sunday when the car driven by Jerry Walker left Route 595, overturned, and crashed into a field. Tucker, riding in the front seat, was pronounced dead on arrival at Hocking Valley Hospital from a broken neck. Walker survived with injuries. The accident occurred near Green Township with no witnesses. Surviving besides his parents are a brother Paul and three sisters, with funeral arrangements set at Gore Cal United Brethren Church.

Bicyclist Held on Grand Larceny Charges in Columbus

Police said grand larceny charges will be filed today against Ralph E. Johnson, 27, of Newark. He bicycled to Columbus on June 8, robbed fireman Stanley Korpieski, 28, of his billfold and watch as he slept at a fire department quarters, and used Korpieski's id to obtain a $300 loan. Johnson was arrested after mailing the stripped billfold back to the firefighter.

Light Planes Collision Hurts Two Pilots in Ohio

In Findlay area a two-plane collision over Fostoria injured two pilots. Nol an M. Kline, 19, of Seneca County suffered a fractured right leg and chest injuries. George W. McIntire, 25, of Fostoria, had minor injuries.

Top honors in Buckeye Boys State award winners

At Camp Perry Ohio top honors went to Thomas Triplett of Sandusky and Dana Deshier of Columbus. They were named delegates to Boys Nation in Washington DC July 23 30. Triplett served as boys governor and Deshier as youth mayor.

Escapees Return to Roseville Penitentiary After Escape

Three men who escaped the Roseville branch of Ohio Penitentiary last Wednesday are back in custody. A fourth remains at large. Warden Ralph W. Alvis said the trio will be segregated and placed in single cells with privileges revoked. Two were captured Saturday night near Cambridge and Canton police arrested the third early Sunday. The escape followed splitting into pairs after scaling an eight foot fence. Hanovich and Strahm, both named, were found in a stolen car near Cambridge. Thacker and Burge reported hitchhiking to Canton. Burge remains free.

Police Recover Cars From Abandoned Mine Shaft

Six Convicts Attempt Escape At Kansas State Prison

Six inmates armed with improvised pistols and knives stormed the visitors hall at Kansas State Prison, taking hostages including two children.
