Delegations from Britain United States and Japan gather at the League of Nations table to set maximum future shipbuilding limits. They refuse to scrap existing vessels and expect to press for favorable ratios, potentially speeding up naval construction.
In Los Angeles on June 20 the defense announced new tactics for the Dorothy Mackaye trial. They plan to prove Ray Raymond died from a fall not a fist fight with Paul Kelly, arguing Kelly committed no crime and Mackaye could not conceal one that never occurred.
Mrs. Maude Beatty 49 wife of John M. Beatty of Long Run died at the family home after ten days of pneumonia. Funeral services set for 2:30 Tuesday at Clarks Chapel with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Survived by husband two daughters Hazel 13 Pearl 11 one brother Lucas Kelley Athens and two sisters Mrs Jessie Gadis Joliet and Mrs Rose Jones Fairmount Tl.
The Manhattan Congregational Church at 76th Street and Broadway announced a plan to build a $2,000,000 23 story structure to house the church stores and a hotel with 6600 rooms for people of moderate means who share the church's high principles.

Miss Grace Carvaugh planned to wed Clyde E. Bruce in Columbus when police arrested Bruce at Union Station on a grand larceny charge. A wire from the girl’s parents prevented the ceremony and New Orleans officials indict Bruce in a $90,000 robbery case from three years earlier.

Roy Dean reportedly confessed to Deputy Stansbery that a Cincinnati gang robbed Catholic churches across Ohio and burned one in Cincinnati. He named five gang members who allegedly carried out arsons and thefts including the Sacred Image of the Shrine in Carey but would only name them to a Cincinnati detective. Local authorities said a Cincinnati detective would be sent at once.
Chicago grain leaders warn farmers may see higher crop prices this year with corn and wheat set for gains unless weather improves. Widespread rains and late spring have slowed planting, threatening harvests and market earnings for producers across regions.
In Cleveland the first murder trial in a federal court opened today. Ernest Frederick of Warren faces trial for the February 28 post office killing of Walter Holcomb. Jurors questioned over capital punishment reflected the high stakes of this landmark case. Frederick reportedly said after the shooting, I shot off one corner of an eternal triangle.

Major Frank M Kahler an 88 year old Civil War veteran and prominent southeastern Ohio citizen died Saturday of a heart attack. The funeral was conducted today at his home in McConnellsville after a long life centered in Morgan county.
In Glasgow Kentucky on June 20 three Collins brothers plan to seek an injunction in Bowling Green to stop Dr. Harry B. Thomas from publicly exhibiting Floyd Collins body to raise funds for a memorial. Homer Collins condemns the display as sacred and says he spent $2,000 on burial. Thomas says he has permission to remove and show the body, charging $2.20 for a cave trip to view Floyd in Crystal cave.
A collision between a fire truck and a crowded street car in Portsmouth yesterday left seven injured, several seriously, and Mrs. Anna Leichner, 51, died of heart disease amid the excitement. The incident occurred late yesterday and the crash caused panic among bystanders.
At 6:46 this morning a head on collision between two New York Central freight trains at Meigs station between Rutland and Hobson left one fireman dead Bert Romine of Southbound Pomeroy and three others injured. The southbound train with empty cars passed the signal and opened a switch allowing the crash. The wreck required cutting engines apart with acetylene torches and only a few cars were derailed. The incident follows two prior railway accidents in the region and includes a separate Albany boy fatally injured and another man hurt near Grosvenor.
In Redding California a family reunion ended with three children drowning while trying to save their mother Maude Foster from Cow Creek. The seven Foster children were bathing when Stella 17 jumped beyond her depth and Mrs. Foster leaped in to save her. Bertha and Frank rushed to shore as others drowned.
Legal preliminaries concluded in the contentious Charles Spencer Chaptine divorce case. Judge will prepare for a definite trial date on August 22 after today’s hearings.
