Logan June 20 Noah Hartsough aged 55 was instantly struck by lightning while plowing in his fields during a thunderstorm. He was a prominent local farmer and member of the Masonic lodge, and two of his horses were killed in the same event near his home.
Paris report describes a late night Beaux Arts ball staged by Champagne Cuticle and the Charioteers with art students and models. Edward J. Marking a former Canton resident faced a federal charge in Cleveland for possessing narcotics in violation of the Harrison Act. Prosecutor Joseph C. Breitenstein claimed Marking sought to aid society by catching others with drugs but argued a drug filled telescope found during a Canton police raid implicated him and tied to the shooting of Paul Hillig, the government witness in the Kudner liquor conspiracy case. The companies allege the tax commission lacks a uniform rule for valuing their property and that the commission's assessed value of 41,904,880 is excessive. they contend a true valuation is 35,792,230.
Oscar Minnich of Lorain, with a prison record, gets three years in the penitentiary for pulling a coupling pin causing a string of freight cars to be released and $6000 in damages. His mother and brothers are fined $100 each for beating a railroad detective who tried to arrest him after the wreck.
A Savannah jail raid by a mob of more than 2,000 sought to seize a black man accused of assaulting a white woman. One mob member and one prisoner died, several officers and bystanders were wounded as state militia and sheriff's deputies confronted the crowd near the county jail.

Cincinnati reports a Covington Ky carpenter R C Littrell aged 35 on the payroll was repairing the central bridge over the Ohio River when he removed a plank to clear a street car. Miscalculation caused him to lose balance and fall into the river below. he did not reappear.
In five liquor raids police arrested four, including Mrs Sam Nagy a habitual offender whose family already paid 10000 in liquor fines. Her husband is in the penitentiary for liquor violations. The other arrestees pleaded not guilty.
