Skylab astronauts retrieve film canisters during sun study walk

Commander Charles Conrad Jr and Paul J. Weitz exited Skylab to retrieve six film cans from the telescope mount during a three hour space walk. Dr. Joseph Kerwin inside filmed the activity as Skylab nears completion of a 28 day mission and splashdown is planned Friday in the Pacific Ocean. The solar experiments aim to unlock controlled thermonuclear fusion as a future power source.

Rescuers Confirm Two Men Dead From Sub Tragedy

In Key West Florida rescuers say two men, Clayton Link and Albert Stover, died after being in a 21 foot Johnson Sea Link minisub rear chamber for 31 hours. They had been unconscious since Monday morning and breathing ceased by midmorning. The sub was freed from a destroyer wreck 15 miles southeast of Key West. The Sea Diver reported the deaths to Rear Adm. John Maurer.
