Rev E E Leadingham Returns From Pilgrim Holiness Conference

Nelsonville reports Rev E E Leadingham, Pilgrim Holiness Church pastor, attended the 23rd quadrennial conference at Winona Lake Indiana. The union with Wesleyan Methodists was approved 321 to 100 and plans for three general superintendents, junior church membership, and a central Indianapolis agency to train unordained ministers were announced. The church grew 7.8 percent in membership and 29.5 percent in Sunday school enrollment with 144 new churches and $6.5 million more in receipts over four years. If Wesleyan approval is given, a new body of about 2000 churches and 100,000 members will form. The three full time superintendents are Dr William H Neff Rev R G Flexon and Rev Melvin H Snyder. Junior church provisions allow 7 to 13 year olds to join but not vote or hold office until age 14 when they enter full membership. The study course will aid unordained ministers and deaconesses toward ordination.
