Paris AP reports Gen Charles De Gaulle’s Rally of the French People leads as the strongest single party in the new National Assembly with 107 seats and about 3.14 million votes as three quarters of nationwide results come in. Communists lag in seats but lead in votes, while coalitions of non communist groups hover near parity.
New York reports mediators charted new efforts to settle labor disputes tying up major seaports. The CIO National Maritime Union seeks 40 hour weeks, a 25 percent wage rise, paid vacations, and elimination of inequities while other unions demand minor changes.
A 26 year old West Virginia woman Reba Szyuch was held on a preliminary murder charge in Indianapolis for the fatal shooting of her brother in law and wounding his younger brother. She claimed she grabbed her husband’s revolver after being threatened by Burnel Grubbs. Detectives noted the Grubbs brothers were related to Ethridge Grubbs who was killed in May at the Monroe County Jail.

Logan Thomas G. Griffith, 27, of near Canal Winchester, was killed about 4 p.m. yesterday when his Army surplus cabin-type plane crashed in Forest Cemetery in Circleville shortly after takeoff from Circleville airport. The cemetery lies on the north side of Circleville.
The Associated Press reports that at least 16 people died in Ohio traffic accidents over the weekend as warm weather drew thousands onto the highways. 16 fatalities were confirmed by authorities yesterday.

The E M Poston SS plant near Athens and Nelsonville will be dedicated Wednesday by Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Co. The plant, once full, will total 200000 kilowatts and cost 38006000.
