Ohio Senate moved to repeal the state’s Sunday fishing prohibition, the first major breach of the Sunday blue laws. Other measures aim to curb blue laws, while a House-approved bill would raise scooter and motorcycle licensing age from 14–15 to 16.
The legislature sent to the Senate a trust fund use bill for highway right of way and a bill abolishing about 35 rotary funds with funds moved to the treasury. The Senate passed a racing, licensing, and sheriff worker compensation package and the House approved Columbus Day as a legal holiday. A statewide ballot item seeks to lift the 50 percent cap on cities selling water and sewer services outside their borders. Senator Baker urged raising the limit to attract industry, while Hoffman’s amendment to empower rate setting failed.
The Coyle brothers, sought for a December Cape Cod supermarket robbery and the killing of Officer James Kane, were captured near a woods hideout in Middleboro, Mass. William Coyle, 22, died from police gunfire at St. Luke’s Hospital. John Coyle, 24, survived. A 400-strong posse pursued them after they abducted hostage William Sedgwick, who escaped when the suspects fled.
President Eisenhower told a news conference that Geneva negotiations appear blocked and a summit next year seems unlikely unless there is progress. He urged that progress on East West issues beyond Berlin could suffice and dismissed calls for White House pressure on steel talks. He also commented on a Soviet jet attack on a U S patrol plane and criticized IOC politics over Nationalist China for the 1960 Games.
In international waters off North Korea 45 miles east, Communist MIG fighters fired 15 to 20 bursts at the P4M Mercator patrol plane. One crewman wounded, two engines out, tail gunner hit, and the Migs vanished before rescue. Admiral Withington says patrols continue without escorts. Mayer awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. State Dept protests the attack as unwarranted and timed to unsettled Geneva talks.
Dr. Frank Cleveland the county pathologist may testify in the Edythe Klumpp murder case in Cincinnati. His cross examination could range from 10 minutes to 12 hours as defense lawyer William F. Hopkins prepared. Prosecutor C Watson Hover did not confirm testimony but noted Cleveland was summoned and available.
The forecast shows fair conditions in West Virginia with a low near 50 tonight and Thursday. Ohio areas stay fair with little temperature change, tonight and Thursday, low around 48 and high near 80. Five day outlook expects near normal to three degrees below normal temperatures, scattered showers possible Sunday or Monday totaling less than a quarter inch.

President Luis Somoza reported two potential invasions against Nicaragua. About 50 men from Honduras were placed to possibly cross the northern border, while roughly 200 attackers from Costa Rica were said to be preparing for a strike in about two weeks.

The Western plan guarantees existing Berlin arrangements and avoids actions endangering air rail and road links to West Germany. Former Teamster president Dave Beck was indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of accepting 200000 dollars from presidents of two trucking firms. No immediate explanation was given for the alleged action.
Walter Frederick Garnes aged 53 of Dexter Route 1 was killed when his flatbed loaded with logs was struck by a New York Central freight train at the Dexter Langsville crossing. Engineer R H Mills reported seeing the truck 300 feet away and applying brakes but could not stop. Coroner Henry Ewing said death came from chest and head injuries. Survived by wife. Strong funeral home of Wilkesville handling arrangements.
Coal operators in Perry Letcher and Knott counties press President Eisenhower to deploy troops to eastern Kentucky coal fields. United Mine Workers Union pledges cooperation with sheriffs in Letcher Perry Knott and Pike counties to quell violence.
Two Gallia County residents Don Allen 57 an auto dealer and Vivian Cherrington 67 wife of attorney Henry W Cherrington died Tuesday evening within hours of each other Both natives of the county Allen suffered a heart attack and Cherrington died at Holzer Hospital Gallipolis Funeral services set for Thursday and tentative rites planned for Saturday with final arrangements to be announced by Miller Funeral Home and Waugh Halley Wood.
A wage strike by Local 543 Hodcarriers, affiliate of the Trades Council, halted work on the Pleasant Valley Hospital and Evans Supermarket in Point Pleasant. About 3000 Huntington area workers are idled as other unions refuse to cross picket lines. J W Davis Contractors and Neighborgall Co. are the builders.

Wyatt Love a 52 year old road commissioner from Bellemeade was seriously injured when thrown from a West Virginia State Road Commission truck. He suffered a severe skull fracture and was taken to Holzer Hospital Gallipolis for treatment after the truck collided with a car at 22nd Street and Jackson Avenue. The accident occurred as Thurman Bowers drove the truck turning left and was struck by the Hassell vehicle.
Phillip Youkan age 51 a steeplejack was dismantling a smokestack Tuesday when he apparently cut his supporting rope with an acetylene torch causing a 90 foot fall to his death in Paterson New Jersey.
