Flying Boxcar Arrives At Huntington For Parachute Exercise

In Our Town Gallia County residents watched a Fairchild C-119 nicknamed The Flying Boxcar fly over Gallipolis and land at Tri-State Airport Huntington. Seven C-119s and airborne troops conducted a special drop with units from various detachments using the airport as a base. Maj Charles A. Muth, commander of Company A, Army Reserve second special forces airborne unit, led a green beret group toward the company office. Muth recalled a spring mishap near Lancaster when a routine jump ended with a dislocated shoulder after landing among hogs. The major has fully recovered and plans another Exercise invitation for the weekend.
