A major blackout hit the Southeastern Ohio region as lines failed and power was not fully restored until about 7 p.m. Crews avoided overload by bringing in external supply to the E. M. Poston Plant in Hamiley Run while floods of inquiries overwhelmed the Athens switchboard. Two of three plants faced strain. standby generation was installed to prevent repeats.

Boy on Bike Injured in Collision on 1-62
Keith Grueser a 12 year old Camp Conley resident was struck by a car while riding his bicycle on 1-62 around 5 40 p m Tuesday. The auto driven by Robert K Lewis of 89 Burdette Addition was also northbound. He sustained a compound fracture of the left leg between knee and hip and a severed vein. He is hospitalized at the Point Clinic.

In Celina near Carthagena at St Charles Seminary grounds 48 year old Robert Francis Page of Dayton killed his 71 year old daughter Mary Jo then shot himself inside their car. Two seminary students heard a scream and saw Page holding the child. Coroner McElroy ruled murder suicide. Regina Page widow spoke of her husband being worried and nervous.

Mrs Alfreda Copely, 30, of Georgetown, died in an automobile crash on U S 68 west of town. Colby Oller of Georgetown drove the other car and overturned. Mayor B J Crawford ordered Oller held for grand jury on a charge of manslaughter.

Air Force tanker makes dead stick landing at Zanesville
A KC96 tanker from Lockbourne Air Force Base landed without power at Zanesville Municipal Airport during a routine mission. One radio operator was injured with a broken wrist. no other crew members were hurt. The aircraft sustained minor damage and had a crew of 11 aboard.

Reese Probe Set June 23 for Hearing
A grand jury meeting to investigate first degree murder charges against Cletus Reese has been postponed until June 23. Bodies of three men were found on the Reese farm this month. Reese, 36, said he killed the three because they were soldiers. Victims were civilians. The session delay came after a juror vacated in Florida could not return in time. Hay Stack Tragedy Claims 13 Year Old
Lawrence Elwood Clouse, 13, was killed when a 20 ton hay stack toppled onto him at a farm about eight miles southwest of Van Wert Ohio yesterday. Local authorities investigated the accident and identified the farm involved.
