George Ayers aged 68 died Monday at Grant Hospital in Columbus from uremic poisoning after an operation. He lived with his brother Edward Ayers at 20 North McKinley Avenue and is survived by two sisters Agnes of Columbus and Mrs. Fred Beverage of Athens and another brother John of Athens. Funeral services were held at Dowler-Ferguson funeral home in Athens and burial was in West Union Street Cemetery.

On June 14 in Columbus engineer Charles Kean of the New York Central Railroad halted a T5-car freight train within arm’s length of a baby boy found on the tracks. A mother rushed to protect her child as the locomotive reversed and emergency brakes engaged. The child Paul Cox, three, was saved unharmed.
Theodore H. Tangeman director of commerce says a special session of the Ohio Legislature must be convened later this year to align the Ohio banking code with the Glass-Steagall Federal Banking Bill. Tangeman was speaking in Columbus.
