Carla Kearns Point Pleasant escaped serious injury when her car demolished near Lakin State Hospital. Larry Whobrey Cheshire fractured left leg after motorcycle collision. Jack Hendrick 34 Point Pleasant Route 1 arrested for failure to have car under control. Dudley Wears 21 Apple Grove arrested for improper passing. Michael Cottrill 22 Point Pleasant charged with driving left of center. Judith Gray 18 Point Pleasant Route 1 involved in a separate collision.

A Sunday afternoon brush fire scorched about 10 acres in the old TNT section at Point Pleasant. Twenty firemen and others fought the blaze for four hours, burning two of the archery ranges set for the Grey Eagles Open and the National Archery Tournament. Local archers will relocate the damaged ranges nearby.
