Shelter House Planned at Roadside Park in Middleport

The Civic Improvement Committee of the Middleport Chamber of Commerce announced a shelter house project at Roadside Park on Mill Street near the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial and post office. With state highway department cooperation, a 27 by 37 foot shelter will be built on the park’s first plateau, with the state constructing the concrete floor and labor and the town supplying lumber for the top. The park, a Southeastern Ohio favorite, hosts picnics and school playgrounds, and the shelter could serve as a flood commissary or food kitchen.
