Giants weighing pitching tests with Hubbell and Winters
The Giants may start experimenting with Wilbur Hubbell and Jesse Winters if current results from regular starters do not improve. Hubbell shows steadiness and self confidence while Winters offers stronger stuff. Both have often pitched as relievers this spring and performed well. The Olympic Committee eyed trainers as crucial in building a winning team and may soon appoint Lawson Robertson, a veteran of three Olympics, to lead training. Doug Baird of the Robins suffers a broken hand and will miss about two weeks after another batting accident.
