Divided Highways Prove Safest During Memorial Day Travel

A press survey shows divided highways such as turnpikes and interstates have much lower fatality rates than older roads during heavy travel. During Memorial Day, 12 deaths occurred on divided highways versus a national total of 474. Head on crashes are rare on divided routes.

In Houston James A. McDivitt and Edward H. White II discuss their four day spaceflight with newsmen. 10 Missing 3 Dead In Victoria Hotel Fire

Plainfield New Jersey. Three unidentified bodies were removed from the Victoria Hotel and Boarding House after a three story blaze. More than 100 guests escaped as 12 people were injured including a policeman who inhaled smoke while aiding a 93 year old woman trapped inside. Firefighters were on scene from 2 36 a m to 5 a m.

In Dong Xoai Viet Nam government forces and Viet Cong clashed leaving about 150 civilians and many soldiers dead.
