United Press dispatch from PUBLIC HALL CLEVELAND reports Herbert Hoover's grand convention speech sparking uproar as delegates cheered 34 minutes after he attacked the New Deal. Hoover condemned "Mother Hubbard" economics and warned of dire outcomes while urging Americans to defend founding ideals.
Mrs. William J. Pontius of Canton elected president of the state board of agriculture. She is serving her tenth term. Jonas P. Pletch named vice president, Lee A. Palmer secretary, and Josephine Heffley assistant secretary, all from Columbus.
Washington U P The government of Finland the only war debtor not in default today assured the State Department it would pay the 164 315 50 installment on its obligation due June 15 confirming Finland will meet the June payment on its war debt to the United States and avoid default.
SYRACUSE N Y The strike of Remington Rand Inc employees in Syracuse continued today despite company claims that the walkout had ended with the return of 1 200 workers to their posts in the million N Y factory.

Pitmen in Plant 2 refused to work as fiery crosses greeted men returning after a 24 hour sit down protesting the beating of S. H. Dalrymple, union president, in Gadsden Alabama where Goodyear's southern plant is located.
