WPA Project Advances New Crossing Over Chickamauga Creek
Pilings have been driven and a temporary crossing is being formed for a new 200000 dollar WPA road and bridge project over Chickamauga Creek near Chillicothe Ave. State engineers expect completion by Wednesday as trucks move 7 to 8 ton fills. The existing bridge, over half a century old, is deteriorating and may be repaired or abandoned once the new span opens a half mile north. If abandoned, residents fear longer travel to reach the city. A double shift accelerates work through the summer.
