Five Die as Express Train Fire Rips Through Coaches
Five passengers perished in flames that swept three coaches of the Birmingham Glasgow express near Beatock Scotland. Several others were injured as the Midland Scot burned until the train halted near Beatock sixty miles southeast of Glasgow. Passengers fled through smoke and jumped to safety as the first three cars burned to the steel frame. The dead include a man two women and two children found in a compartment behind the engine. Immediate identification was not possible.
