Poll Workers Waited Voters Didn't Show in Athens Area
Election day in Athens and surrounding towns saw little voter turnout. In one precinct eight poll workers handled the polls all day and eight people voted. A Nelsonville precinct reported a flag theft near the polling place. County Elections Board chair William Hoffman called it the worst election yet as results came in. Seventeen precincts opened for three Democratic primary races in Athens and Glouster.

The KEYS campership program through The Messenger now funds 16 youngsters to Camp Swaneky near Cincinnati.
