Athens Council Approves Limit on Extended Parking
Athens city council gave three readings to a parking measure dividing the city into business and residential zones. The 12 hour limit in business areas and 24 hour limit in residential zones carry misdemeanors with fines from 5 to 25 dollars. The ordinance designates specific streets in the business belt and lists all other city streets under the 24 hour rule. The council also sent a copy to Ohio University and appointed a committee to study a Washington Court House trash disposal proposal. Mayor’s finances show May receipts of 252 188.40 with past balances and possible fund shortages in the current year.
