State GOP reaffirms temperance platform at Columbus convention

The Republican party in the state maintained its stance on temperance. The Columbus State Convention yesterday reaffirmed the 1851 platform calling on the Legislature to submit a constitutional amendment to place liquor traffic control in the General Assembly.

Harvard overseers debate prayers repeal vote

At a Harvard College overseers meeting a resolution to repeal compulsory attendance at morning prayers and religious exercises failed by a strong vote. The report notes George Shiffer of Blair County Pa who had a nasal cancer and used Peruna before a cancer hospital visit and was cured after a short course.
