Economy need of state and federal rule
Congressman Martin L. Davey of Kent argued at the Chamber of Commerce that nearly 100000 government employees could be dispensed with without harming federal usefulness. He urged federal and state reforms to cut costs, noting increases in federal payroll and overall spending since Coolidge’s era and proposing a blanket hiring and firing power to streamline government. He stressed humane focus on people and pledged economy if elected Ohio governor.
