Secretary of State Acheson told the Senate inquiry there was no appeasement in backing the UN cease fire resolution for Korea. He said the vote followed sound reasoning to restore prewar conditions and discuss China in the UN after aggression stopped, noting Red China’s later rejection and questions about Formosa.
Adolph Rothbaum, a Woodhaven Queens druggist, filed a Queens Supreme Court suit seeking a temporary injunction to stop Macy's from pricing fixed items within New York State. CHESAPEAKE Mayor Bryan Pittman yesterday held Lawrence Brammer age 52 of Corryville in the Lawrence County to the grand jury in the slaying of town marshal Gordon Lunsford. Brammer is charged with first degree murder and accused of wounding Deputy Sheriff Oscar L. Brammer. The marshal and deputy were attempting to serve a peace warrant on Brammer when the incident occurred. The jury convenes Friday. Funeral services for the town marshal were held today.
Ohio lawmakers from both houses planned to sign about 120 bills this afternoon before sending them to Governor Frank Lausche. The governor then has ten days to sign veto or let them become law without his signature as the 98th General Assembly winds down on June 19.

China Telegram Read Acheson read into the record a telegram from Red China's foreign minister to Russia's Malik, then UN Security Council president, accusing the United States of armed aggression and violation of the UN charter. Acheson said the telegram supported Chow En Lai’s claim that Taiwan is part of China and criticized U.S. moves to prevent liberation by the Chinese People's Republic Army. Formosa remains under Nationalist control. Truman had earlier used naval force to deter mainland attacks and neutralize the inland to protect U.N. Korea forces. It was the 28th day of the inquiry.
