Hoover Reduces Public Handshakes at White House

President Hoover has sharply cut his weekly handshaking from about 1,000 to 400 since March 4 by limiting public receptions at the executive offices. The noon public receptions, once a daily event under Coolidge, have been reduced to three a week then two and now one on Wednesday. Bank Bandits Shot by Cashier in Central City Hold Up

James M. Miller the cashier of the Central City National Bank shot and wounded two of four masked bandits who forced him to open the vault. The thieves took about $5,000 and escaped with some of the money. two wounded bandits were captured. The total amount recovered could not be determined.
