West Bypass Views Presented By City
Mil ton Nuzum and Mayor Ray Shep ard presented two reports to the city council on a west by pass of Route 33 and its traffic impact on West Union Street. The interchange near White's Mill was criticized for bringing 9000 cars daily to Athens. The council urged further study and appointed Nuzum to Baker Center for a Thursday hearing. Robert C. Smith reported two or three wells could yield 1000 to 1500 gallons per minute, prompting license application actions to develop a new water supply by September or October.
