About 350 students from Ohio University will graduate Monday at 10 am. Dr Enoch Albert Bryan president of the State College of Washington will deliver the commencement address and diplomas will be awarded. College of Liberal Arts will award 233 bachelor of arts degrees and College of Education 110 diplomas. Five students seek the master of arts degree plus 99 diplomas for two year education courses, 11 for four years in art supervision, and one for a three year course in industrial education.

Showers Expected to Relieve Heat Across Ohio Farmland
Columbus June 5 UPI showers tonight were forecast by the Weather Bureau to ease a heat wave that has damaged crops and strained water supplies. Agriculture reports say oats are threatened while corn germination slows and berry and fruit crops suffer. Heat prostrations are widespread but no fatalities. Central Ohio highs ranged to 91 with intense heat near Cincinnati and Ironton.

Athens County to vote on JL-Bonds 10 for new jail
J H Grosvenor president of the county board announced that a bond issue JL-Bonds 10 will be submitted to Athens County voters in November for a new jail and sheriff’s residence. State officials offered an extension if remodeling funds are unavailable. Only approved change is replacing a rubber hose to metal pipe on the jail hot plate. An architect will be hired this summer and a building commission appointed by the commissioners.

The Athens County Commissioners and the City of Athens expect to sign a bridge contract next week with the State Highway Department. The South West Athens bridge, estimated at 210000, will span the railroad and connect President Street and Route 159. Two thirds of dirt costs and near-term work are to be shared by the city and B&O Railroad, with the county covering one third and the city handling approach work and the relocation of streets. The plan preserves Mulberry Street and uses a two-street approach to the bridge.
