In Nevada at Yucca Flat the biggest U S atomic detonation to date lit the sky for over two minutes and produced a 50 kiloton to 70 kiloton fireball. The body of Adolph Dobrak, 71, was found Wednesday in the cellar of his Midland home with seven knife wounds to the head and a collapsed left chest. A bloody butcher knife lay nearby. Police questioned three men about the death.

Two Wounded By Policeman In Cincinnati Shootout

In Cincinnati a police shooting wounded two people as a fleeing man was hit by a bullet. Charles Collins 31 was struck in the abdomen and Clara Belle Glenn 32 was hit in the left arm, she had only a skin abrasion. Grunewald Fined for Contempt of Congress

Henry W. Grunewald, 61, Washington mystery man, is fined 1000 dollars and given a suspended 90 day jail term for contempt of Congress by U.S. District Judge Alexander Holtzoff. Meigs County theft suspect seized before West Virginia ferry

A 19 year old Meigs County youth Harold Long of Long Bottom was arrested as he tried to flee to West Virginia on a Ravenswood ferry. He was identified as the armed robber who threatened a Kel Ray Night Club worker with a .22 rifle at 5 am and stole $11 plus club cash and liquor. Police blocked at the Pomeroy Mason Bridge after a car theft report and Long was captured as he boarded the ferry. The stolen car hailed from Spencer West Virginia, with another vehicle reportedly driven in Tuscarawas County. He is being questioned about additional thefts, including the Bentz pit auto.

Liquor Dept Targets Bingo Pinball Machines in Bars

The state liquor department announced a campaign to remove bingo type pinball machines from licensed premises.
