865 To Receive Degrees In OU Commencement Exercises
Ohio University will award 865 degrees Sunday at 2 p.m. on the Green with Sir Leslie Munro as speaker on Reflections on the Summit. Abba Hillel Silver delivers the baccalaureate sermon at Memorial Auditorium at 10:30 a.m. President John C. Baker will confer 792 bachelor’s, 53 master’s and 20 associate degrees. Athens residents listed among graduates span Athens and surrounding towns with numerous BSEd, BSJ, BSHEd and BSEE designations.

Albany High School class of 1920 graduates finally receive postcards from France promised by former superintendent T. S. Robe who left in 1918 to join the Army. Censor restrictions delayed delivery until a 1960 reunion when Robe handed the cards to the former pupils.

Bert Cheatwood 28 of Carroll pleaded guilty in Municipal Court to a check forgery charge and was bound to the grand jury on $200 bond. Police said he passed a forged $5 check on May 17 at the Gabriel Body Shop on Hudson Ave drawn on a Canal Winchester bank. he had been arrested by the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Department.
