Rio Grande College Prepares for Finals and Commencement

Rio Grande College finishes final examinations Friday. Alumni banquet Saturday evening, baccalaureate Sunday morning, and commencement Sunday afternoon in Community Hall. Notable speakers include Rev Bruce MacDonald and Paul Franklin Bliss. Degrees awarded to numerous graduates led by Dr Boyd Davis as board president.

One Driver Charged Crash Injures Woman

A one car crash 42 miles north of Crown City on Route 7 at 5 35 p m injured Iva Holley 31 of Huntington who rode as passenger with Dollman W Dailey 31 of Chesapeake The driver was fined 15 for unsafe operation and the car was destroyed The collision also caused minor damage to two other vehicles and several people faced varying charges in nearby courts.

Official Kiwanians Welcome Lieut. Gov Bechtel in Gallipolis

Gallipolis Kiwanis Club hosted Lt. Gov. Al Bechtel of the ninth division for a dinner at the Lafayette Hotel. Bechtel spoke on Rambling Through the Past and commended the club for its youth camp. He reviewed committee reports and discussed attendance and the Cleveland convention.

Marriage Licenses Issued in Gallia County Probate Court

Francis E. McKee a 29 year old Gallipolis timekeeper and Jacque Driscoll an 18 year old of Gallipolis obtained licenses. Applications were filed by Harry Glenn Ward a 19 year old Gallipolis laborer and Eleanor Eloise Harrison a 16 year old Northup clerk. McKee is son of William and Grace Karna McKee. Driscoll is daughter of John and Frances Kemble Driscoll. Ward is son of Woodrow Wilson Ward and Ada Ward Hayes. Harrison is daughter of Merrill and Emma Saunders Harrison.

Fine Imposed For Assault And DWI In Local Cases

Gallipolis officials fined Lula Rogers 38 of Middleport ten dollars and costs with five dollars suspended on an assault charge. Lilian Mays 36 of Gallipolis paid twenty five dollars and costs for contempt. Municipal Judge William H. Jones imposed the usual penalty for DWI on L Cragg 24 of Bidwell and Frank P. Dennett 20 of Troy, with fifty dollars and costs each, five days in jail, and six months license suspension.

Evans Plans New Evans Supermarket in Huntington

Stanley Evans, president and GM of Evans Grocery Co, announced plans for a new Evans Supermarket in Huntington. Architect Granville Paules, assisted by E Keith Dean and Brooks Dean, designed the St Albans store opened last February. The Huntington building faces Fifth Street and Sixth, with 17 000 square feet and a 150 car blacktop parking area. A front loading ramp under a canopy will provide shade and rain protection, and the store is expected to open in late autumn.

FBI Agent Charges Federal Law Breaking

Woman Jailed on Bad-Check Charge in Meigs County

Wilma Jean Loucks was arrested Tuesday night by Meigs County sheriff's deputies and jailed for passing bad checks. City police brought her to Gal lipolis mid morning Wednesday, with an offer to dismiss the charge if restitution totaling $39.25 for a $10 check and a $29.25 hotel bill was made.
