Logan June 1 MG S Yaw county auditor urges strict economy in public expenditures for Hocking County citing reduced tax duplicates and rising delinquent taxes. He calls for pay as you go capital outlays and tighter controls across departments to preserve essential services and avoid overextended funding.
In a Saturday night search at Stanley Derr’s home near the city Roustable George Shaw and deputies found a quantity of intoxicants. Derr objected to the search and asked for Sheriff Lot Ellinger or deputies to present the search. He was ordered to report Monday for arraignment before Magistrate el Pectin.
Logan June 1. The annual Logan High School Alumni Association banquet will be June 18 with dinner at 6 20 PM at Logan Athletic Field due to seating limits. After dinner graduates will meet in the High School Auditorium for a short program followed by a later dance. Members of the ticket committee are W W Marin chair Alfred Campbell Miss Maxine Notestone Miss Elizabeth Meldrim Mrs Charles Huffman and Mrs Harry Thomas.
Logan June 1 Judgments are sought by the Citizens Savings Association in two Common Pleas Court actions. The first targets Mr and Mrs Francis F Kuhn for 8008.53 and the second seeks 5546.14 against Mr and Mrs Charles EB Oberje.
Judge Harley M. Whitcraft returned to Logan after a month on the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas bench in Cleveland. He will stay in Logan for several weeks to handle local court matters. Mrs. A F Skinner left Cherrington Hospital after three weeks of treatment and returned home near Logan.
Six people were injured in a head on collision between a northbound small coupe and a southbound roadster near Mine 9 tipple between Corning and Rendville. The Dunlaps from Columbus and Almond Dunlap were hurt. The other occupants William Learned John Kinder and John Woods were injured. Learned was briefly unconscious but later released to go home.
A baby of Mr. and Mrs. A. O Rinehart on Spring Street in Glouster is ill with infantile paralysis. County health officer Dr J M Higins of Athens was notified after a physician visit. A health board representative is expected to arrive today to enact quarantine.
Jacksonville Trimble High School trustees hired several teachers at a Thursday meeting. Names include Helen Crawford Sara Willis Bernice Carter Forrest Guthrie Merritt W M Anderson Mabel McBride and Oo C Apt for auto vocational vocal music and instrumental music. Principal M M Bryson will serve another year. a janitor for the school building to be hired later.
Glouster Reds beat Shawnee 2 to 1 in a tightly contested M4 inning game on Saturday. Anderson scored the winning run after walking with one down and Smith lined a single to left as Adams and Nichols pitched well for their teams.

Two mining fatalities in Athens County were reported to the State Industrial Commission during April as the monthly accident report shows. The April death toll reached eighty three industrial deaths, the lowest total for any month on record.
A summary notes 29 counties reporting fatal accidents in the past month led by Cuyahoga County with 14 deaths. Industrial Commission records total accident claims at 13,917 for April, up 470 from March. Machinery caused 2,440 incidents and 60,078 workdays were lost in April due to accidents.
