French and American soldiers and civilians watch German delegates from church in Versailles as they remain on their side of a boundary fence between Versailles and Paris. Delegates are quartered in a Versailles hotel and meetings with them occur at Trianon palace.
William Ramsey 18 of Salisburg South Carolina drowned while swimming in the Hocking river above East Bridge after diving from a rock during a picnic. Immediate rescue attempts failed. Ramsey had been employed by Union News Company and had lived on East State street in Athens.
In St Germain France on June 2 the peace treaty was delivered to the Austrian delegates at 12 39 PM after a late Wilson arrival. Clemenceau announced no oral talks and a fifteen day window for written observations. Chancellor Renner replied in French as a glass case of stone age relics briefly interrupted him. The Austrians wore morning dress while others wore suits. Mrs Diaz attended with the Italian general. The meeting adjourned at 1 14 PM.

Berlin dispatch reports Foreign Minister Brockdorff Rantzau stated Germany would have continued fighting had the October terms been known. A Rhineland republic was proclaimed with Wiesbaden as capital and Dr. Borden named president.
The U S civil service commission announced an examination to be held at Athens on June 28 to fill a contemplated vacancy as fourth class postmaster at Stewart Ohio. The present incumbent is Mrs George Daugherty. Applicants must live in the Stewart office territory.
About 3,000 telegraph and telephone workers planned a 3 pm strike in Atlanta as Mayor James L. Key and city officials pressed efforts to settle the dispute.
Members of the Chamber of Commerce of C meet for their annual gathering Monday at 7 30 p m. Officers will be elected during the session.
The Austrian treaty requires acceptance of the league covenant and labor charter, renunciation of outside rights, demobilization of naval and air forces, recognition of Hungary’s independence, and surrender of the Austro-Hungarian navy. It outlines disarmament, restrictions on submarines, equal rights for all Austrian nationals, and complex redrawing of borders with guarantees for minority rights and transit. It annuls Brest-Litovsk and Russian treaties since the revolution, sets Belgian and Balkan frontiers, and assigns enforceable penalties identical to the German treaty, with specific provisions on German payments and future dissolution of military capabilities.

Paris June 2. President Wilson conferred with the American peace commission on the Adriatic issue. Later Colonel Hoare met Premier Orlando. Reported that the conference ended without result.
The NC4 seaplane crew from the United States is invited to meet the Prince of Wales in Plymouth with a likely presentation on Thursday. Read Towers Bellinger and Admiral Phin kett are scheduled to fly to Paris tomorrow on an air ministry plane to meet President Wilson and will return to London afterward.
The weather forecast predicts showers early in the week for the Ohio valley followed by fair conditions. Temperatures will be above normal at the start, dip below normal on Tuesday and Wednesday, then return to normal for the rest of the week.
A Senate resolution by Senator James E. Watson of Indiana calls Washington to honor Salvation Army efforts in France and Belgium. It would confer honorary colonel rank on Evangeline Booth, commander in America, and urge the award of a Distinguished Service Medal to her.
The chamber of commerce holds its annual meeting this Monday at 7 30 PM at the headquarters. New officers will be elected and a new constitution and by laws proposed for adoption. Members are urged to participate, as the referendum ballot may not reflect the final vote. Be present promptly at 7 30.
The Chicago Federation of Labor executive committee forwarded resolutions demanding the removal of Postmaster General Ileson to President Wilson after their adoption in Chicago.

Hight Ohio men have passed entrance exams for West Point Academy as announced by the army office. The accepted list includes Robert A McClure of Dayton Leellce M Cremer of Marion Malph M Geiser of Lancaster Robt M Smith of Castel Ken E Chandler of Warren Paul Dawson of Cleveland Heights Jas H Workman of Lakewood and Paul F Laning of Bomo. No local men are noted among the successful competitors.
Portions of the Austrian peace terms were handed to plenipotentiaries at St Germain. Provisions mirror the German treaty in structure but omit Germany specific clauses and safeguard rights of minorities in Austria and surrounding areas.
