Decoration Day Observances and Memorial Oration
The Decoration Day parade moved from City Hall to the cemetery led by the Sixth Regiment Band and National Guards under Capt. Harry Sewart, with the Athens Lodge and Veterans Association in dress uniforms. Major Jewett delivered a speech praising Union soldiers and urging remembrance, followed by remarks from Charles Grosvenor.
