Goodyear Workers Okay Pact at Apple Grove
Members of United Rubber Workers Local 644 ratified a two year contract with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Apple Grove by a 159 to 80 vote. The pact raises wages 16 cents an hour first year and 12 cents second year, adds three weeks vacation after seven years, grants plant wide seniority, and ends a strike that began May 7 with about 300 workers involved in nightly picketing.
