Hamilton Ford Motor Co plant i s back to full force with 600 workers returning after a three week shutdown due to the CIO Auto Workers strike in Detroit. Timken Roller Bearing Co. also recalled 571 furloughed workers across Columbus Canton and Zanesville as Ford strike settlement allows full production of bearings for Ford cars.
Two airplanes sustained damage in separate crashes on a Copeland farm field near Stewart Tuesday. Four occupants escaped injury. Ralph Smeck of Ohio University Airport said authorities were investigating. A four place family plane from Copeland farm landed then nosed over in tall grass. A second craft hit high tension lines while attempting to land, damaging gear and right wing. Pilot George Monesmith and a passenger were uninjured. Both planes remained at the scene as authorities arranged removal.
