Plans For Another May Festival At Grand Prix Track
Promoter Shelly Finkel envisions a second festival at Watkins Glen Grand Prix race track six weeks after Summer Jam drawing about 600000 fans. Officials and locals weigh political and traffic concerns as Sheriff Dean notes resistance from farmers and conservatives despite praise for orderly crowds. Finkel cites Dead Band Allman Brothers and The Band as draw power while ticket checks were dropped amid high turnout. He estimates 1.5 million gross against 1 million expenses, awaiting negotiations with track owner officials and entertainers.
