Unemployment Rises in Logan Area After Dip
Logan area unemployment increased to 397 for the week ending July 22, led by 318 jobless claimants and 79 new filings. Homer Schein of the BUC notes the county includes Hocking, Nelsonville, and York Township in Athens County while statewide claims fell to 71,919 from 74,219.

Hocking County youth placed on probation
Logan reports a 16 year old Hocking County boy charged with improper relations with a 27 year old Nelsonville woman on July 14 is placed on probation by Juvenile Judge Rhea Pettit Bangert. Two Hocking County men face criminal assault charges and pled innocent. both bound over to the grand jury. A third man previously implicated was exonerated by the woman.
