Duane Davis 36 of W Main St Pomeroy missing after his john boat capsized on the Ohio River near Pomeroy while three friends were aboard. Gerald Wise swam to shore and Alphonse Schorn was rescued. Wise rode to West Virginia to report. Searches moved downstream toward Point Pleasant as crews dragged the river. Davis was a World War II veteran living with his sister Mrs Thomas Young.
