Survived by daughter Mrs Emma Nemenz Cincinnati son Edward Youngstown sister Carrie Minich Wilkinsburg Pa five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral Tuesday at Ewing Funeral Home with burial in St Johns Cemetery.
The Domei report quotes AP Bureau chief R P Cronin Jr saying U S and other nationals interned at Santo Tomas University in Manila live under normal conditions with education ongoing and outside hospitals available for illness. Cronin notes no deaths in the first half year and 14 babies born to internees.
Inland Steel Company surrendered to War Labor Board demands in Chicago noting compulsion by threats of confiscation and a strike by CIO United Steelworkers. It will grant a wage rise to 78 cents an hour with 44 cents daily minimum but will appeal the union security provisions and dues checkoff if a court rules them invalid.
