Power Bills Basis of Suit in Meigs County Court
The Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Co. won a judgment of 1267.55 against The Meigs County Agricultural Society on two cognovit notes for 633.78 and 633.77 signed by the society's officers Van E. McDade and Ray E. Gibbs. An unusual fact is that the plaintiff's attorney A D Russell serves as the society’s treasurer. The action is largely a formality since cognovit notes grant automatic judgment, and the society faces another suit by the county for over four thousand dollars for allegedly unauthorized payments.
