Avenida los Proceres opens in Caracas with hero avenue
Venezuela unveiled the Avenida los Proceres or Avenue of Heroes in Caracas marking independence day. General Marcos Perez Jimenez opened the 800 foot long thoroughfare featuring statues fountains 84 flower urns a 50 foot obelisk two 100 foot towers and ten gargantuan bronze heroes with much statue work by Italian sculptors. Delegations from the United States Great Britain Chile Peru Colombia Paraguay and West Germany attended the dedication.
