An Ohio State Employment Service survey in McArthur shows about 800 residents in Vinton County are ready for work. The pool includes 500 men and 300 women with experience in ammunition plants, brick work, sawmilling, and related roles.

Artie Moore of Eagle Township bound over to Common Pleas Court under $1000 bond on charges after Mrs. Martha Floyd alleged he threatened to kill Floyd family members and fired into the Floyd home while intoxicated. Other cases include Doris Jeffers vs Glendon Jeffers for divorce and alimony and a partition suit by Joe and Mary Truman against Dale Fout and Hobart George.
Funeral services were held for Anna Myrtle Graves 68 of Ratcliffsburg died July 18 of a coronary occlusion after heart attack at home. She leaves husband Plyley Graves son Willard daughters Gladys Burris Hazel Hassey Verna Harper seven grandchildren seven great grandchildren a brother and two sisters. Twin daughters Lilly Edith and Leafy Edna preceded her. She belonged to Eagle Chapel Christian church. Rites at McArthur Christian church with Rev J P Daub and burial in Elk Cemetery.
McArthur area Vinton county selects Edwin L. Depue Robert R Betts and Normel Perdew for July draft. All three reported to the local board and Ft Hayes Columbus for induction. Perdew is under 19 and volunteered. Seven men will go to Ft Hayes July 30 for pre induction exams. August quota posted includes two 1 A physicals on August 18 four IVF physicals on August 25 and three inductions on August 28.
Wilton Local School board asked the County Board of Education to appoint a member to fill the vacancy left by Ralph Wiseman’s resignation. A July 29 special meeting will decide the appointment. Madison board urged transfer of the Madison District to McArthur and presented petitions for transfers to McArthur and Brown-Zaleski.
