Logan Gas wins rate fight in Newark case
The Logan Gas company won in Common Pleas Court in Newark, Ohio, with Judge P. O. Dye ordering the proposed higher gas rates to take effect and issuing an injunction preventing the city board of elections from putting the issue to voters in November. The new schedule charges 1.00 for the first 500 cubic feet and 0.50 for each additional thousand, favoring heavy users while raising costs for light users. The decision mirrors a Fremont dispute between manufacturers and the elections board over identical rates, signaling potential influence on other Ohio rate fights.
