Strikes Put Illinois Mines On Verge Of Closure
Springfield July 28 coal mine shutdowns loom as unions say every Illinois mine could close by Monday due to company men strikes. He also seeks $8 a day pay for company men instead of the $6 daily award from the federal coal commission. The pause follows limited work weeks caused by a coal car shortage since the armistice.
