The Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Co. paid 349226 for the second half of 1959 Athens County property taxes, bringing its total for the year to 698452. Of that amount 465453 goes to schools, mainly York district with the Poston Power Plant. The company’s 1959 total tax in 23 Ohio counties was 3519018, Athens County ranking behind Franklin for utility revenue. County treasurer T. O. Kincade noted total payments on the last day reached 425622.86.
